Changes to the Copper Smelter canteen

A new look and fresh menu has been welcomed by employees at the onsite Copper Smelter canteen. Employees across site can now enjoy the tasty offerings of CC’s Takeaways without having to drive into town.

Mark Peterson, Copper Smelter Manager says that Mount Isa Mines recognises that being able to access healthy and hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners onsite makes a big difference to our employees and their schedules.

“The operating hours are some of the longest of any eatery in town so that nightshift workers are also accommodated,” says Mark.

“We want to make getting something fresh and satisfying to eat as easy and convenient as possible for our workers, and of course the canteen is open to everyone, not just Copper Smelter employees with delivery options available across all areas.”

An assortment of catering platters are also available for special occasions and celebrations with free delivery anywhere onsite. Payment can take place via a purchase order on SAP as CC’s Takeaways are now a registered Mount Isa Mines Vendor.

Julie Koch, owner of CC’s Takeaways says that running an eatery is a passion project for her.

“I am a commercial cook of 13 years and I love making homemade meals, most of which are from my grandmother’s recipe book. We handcraft all our food from scratch, right down to our hamburger patties, pies and sausage rolls,” says Julie.

The Mount Isa community need not fret with the closure of CC’s Takeaway in West Street, as they are still serving their regular customer base from the Copper Smelter canteen, which is fully accessible to the public via Smelter Road.             

Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 5am until 8pm, and Saturdays from 8am until 3pm. Orders can be placed by +61 7 4744 2430 or via the website.
