Newlands Coal

Our Newlands Coal mine produced thermal and metallurgical coal for export for 40 years and came to the end of its mine life, as planned, in February 2023. This mine has now moved to a rehabilitation and closure phase.

Location

The mine is located about 30 kilometres north-west of the Glenden township and 190 kilometres west of Mackay in Queensland's Bowen Basin. Coal from Newlands is railed to the Abbot Point port for export.

Ownership

Newlands Coal is 100% owned by Glencore.

Glencore continues to engage openly and regularly with the community of Glenden and the wider Bowen Basin region.
