Approvals documents
Mangoola Open Cut is required under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 to have an Environmental Protection Licence (EPL). An EPL is issued and enforced by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). The most recent version of the Mangoola Open Cut EPL can be found by searching the Public Register.
Mangoola Open Cut was initially granted approval under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 in 2007. Since the initial Project Approval was issued, there were eight modifications to that approval. On 26 April 2021, the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission (IPC) approved with conditions the Development Application for the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations (MCCO) Project under Part 4 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The existing Project Approval 06_0014 was surrendered within 12 months of the date of commencement of development under SSD 8642. The development consent (SSD 8642) and other relevant information can be found on the approvals documents (this) webpage.
The surrendered Project Approval (PA06 0014) and earlier versions, remain available on the New South Wales Major Projects website.
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Mangoola Coal Continued Operations Project (MCCO Project) was placed on public exhibition from 18 July to 28 August 2019. The Response to Submissions (RTS) has been prepared to address the issues raised in the submissions received during the public exhibition period. A total of 334 submissions were made in response to the public exhibition of the MCCO Project EIS. This included 13 agency submissions and 321 community and interest group submissions.
