Location

Ulan Coal is located near the village of Ulan in central-west New South Wales, about 45 kilometres north-east of Mudgee.

Partnerships

Ulan Coal operations is 100% owned and managed by Glencore and comprises two underground mining operations – Ulan Underground and Ulan West Operations.

All associated underground, open cut mining and land management activities within Ulan Coal land holdings, as a collective, are referred to as the Ulan Coal Mine Complex.

A proposed extension of the open cut, continued Ulan Underground and Ulan West Underground is shown in the Ulan Coal Continued Operations Project Area (JPG 2MB).

Mining at the site dates back to the 1920s with Ulan No. 1 Colliery Holding’s brief operation to supply coal to local markets.
