Our Glencore Coal Australia four-year apprenticeship program will enable you to develop your skills, gain experience and expand your knowledge with new challenges and opportunities along the way.
The program will involve a great mix of onsite, offsite and TAFE training. Candidates will need to have completed year 10 prior to commencing the apprenticeship program. Mature age candidates are also welcome to apply.

Applications open May 2025
Applications open each year in May for the following year's intake.
Commencement is mid-January each year.
Once applications are open, you will need to provide:
- a cover letter: introduce yourself and your reasons for applying
- your resume: include your personal details, education level and any practical experience or work history
- copies of the last two (2) years of school, TAFE or university results, or evidence of workplace training if you are a mature age candidate
- names and contact details of two (2) referees.
- Step 1: Complete the online application form and upload the required documents.
- Step 2: Our recruitment team will shortlist successful applicants who will be invited to take part in an online aptitude test.
- Step 3: Our recruitment team will invite candidates who successfully passed the aptitude test to attend a face-to-face interview.
- Step 4: Shortlisted interview applicants will be invited to take part in industry standard health assessments, drug and alcohol testing and online psychometric assessments.
- Step 5: Our recruitment team may conduct reference checks of candidates who successfully pass all health, drug and alcohol and psychometric tests.
- Step 6: Successful candidates will be presented with an offer of employment.
An apprenticeship takes four years to complete.
Apprenticeship program disciplines may include:
- Auto Electrician
- Boilermaker (Metal Fabricator)
- Electrician
- Mechanical Fitter
- Plant Mechanic
Locations include open cut and underground operations.
Yes. You will be nominated a ‘home’ site for the entirety of your apprenticeship. However, you will also have the opportunity to rotate to other sites and participate in offsite training and work experience.
All apprentices will attend TAFE for their trade course in combination with on-the-job practical learning.
