Tocal College

Students at Tocal College are immersed in every aspect of agriculture, from dairy farming to mustering to crop production. We’re proud to support selected Tocal students in pursuing a career in agriculture through our Glencore scholarships program.

With 74 per cent of the land we own used for agricultural purposes, and with a wholly owned pastoral company managing these properties, we understand the challenges farmers face and the need to provide practical support through scholarships like this.

And we’re proud to see alumni scholars like Koa succeeding as a result.

Life after Tocal

Koa graduated as the 2023 Dux for the Certificate III in Performance Horse at Tocal College.

Since completing her studies at Tocal, her life has been a whirlwind of activity that embodies the essence of the Australian outback.

She is currently a station hand on a grower property in the Channel Country of south-west Queensland and loves to be immersed in the rhythms of rural life, surrounded by cattle, horses, and the exhilaration of camp drafts and rodeos.

Getting up at the crack of dawn, her day can involve anything and everything from mustering, yard work and drafting, processing weaners and calves, running fences and transporting cattle.

The power of a scholarship

For Koa, the Glencore scholarship was more than just financial support; it was a catalyst for pursuing her interests and goals while at Tocal College.

"I was extremely grateful to be a recipient of a Glencore scholarship as it meant a good portion of my fees were covered," Koa said.

“This meant that I could continue my passion for competitive camp drafting throughout my studies. Without Glencore’s support, I would not have been able to travel to competitions and continue that throughout the course. It has certainly helped me get to where I am today.”

Since 2017, we have supported more than 44 students like Koa to complete studies at Tocal College.
