The Mount Isa Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC) offers a range of youth engagement and community programs with assistance from Glencore Queensland Metals funding.
Glencore’s funding has enabled the Mount Isa PCYC Impact Coordinator to deliver youth development and social engagement activities that give young people a purpose, motivation, skills and opportunities.
During 2022, the Mount Isa PCYC delivered 133 youth programs, achieving meaningful engagement with youth by providing programs including Blue Edge, TeamUP, Love Bites, RUBY and Booyah Respect.

The Blue Edge Program is a fitness-based program that includes career education, motivational speakers and mentoring enabling youth to reach their potential.

Outcomes for the Blue Edge program include the development of personal relationships and building rapport with police.
Through these programs, young people are encouraged to get involved in the PCYC’s activities, have positive experiences, learn and be supported from mentors, community leaders and local police officers.
Anne Williams, Manager HSEC for Mount Isa Mines says Glencore is proud to support the PCYC so it can continue to offer quality, youth engagement programs to the community.

The program aims to grow and develop the skills and attitudes that young people need to take part in society.

Mount Isa Mines has been a long-term sponsor of the Mount Isa PCYC.
“Glencore and the PCYC have worked together on multiple projects in Mount Isa and Cloncurry, including gym upgrades and the Project Booyah program. The Impact Coordinator role funded by Glencore is key to the success of these programs,” says Anne.
“The PCYC plays an important role within our community, and these programs keep young people engaged giving them a hand up and supporting them to be successful within themselves and within our community. ”
